TORCH MENTORING
February 21

We know and can see that the heart of the ministry and the lasting changes in the lives of the youth occur when mentoring takes place and they begin to learn and trust that we are committed to listening and loving them where they are.  The new mentoring guides provide practical tips, lessons and exercises that engage the mentor and mentee and help them grow in their understanding of the Christian life.

This day will benefit all individuals who are Torch volunteers, even if you are not yet mentoring and are currently choosing to participate in a background role on the weekend.  Mentors are needed for each participant on the Torch weekend so come and see what this is all about!   Please RSVP by February 9th, if you have not already done so, so that adequate supplies may be available for everyone to chair@kairosoklahoma.org .

Directions:
I 40 east to Sunnylane exit, turn right at stop sign going south on Sunnylane Road past 15 street to 2020 S. Sunnylane(just south of Del City High School).

 OKLAHOMA KAIROS TRAINING
January 17th, 9:30 a.m. -4:00 p.m.
at Chapel Hill UMC in Oklahoma City

Join us as we begin a new year for Kairos Prison Ministry in Oklahoma!!  We want to start the year fresh and new as we prepare to serve our Lord in many facilities throughout the State in Inside, Outside and Torch ministry settings.  We will gather, pray, discuss and learn from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17th.  Chapel Hill UMC in Oklahoma City has graciously agreed to host us at their facility located at 2717 W. Hefner Rd (On Hefner between May Ave. & Pennsylvania).   We ask that each Advisory Council Chair and/or Secretary notify us by January 12th of the number of people to expect from your ministry program so that we may have adequate food and supplies.  Please provide that notification to FinancialSec@kairosoklahoma.org with a copy to chair@kairosoklahoma.org .

The training is for all Kairos volunteers in our state and will begin with a focus on Advisory Council orientation.  We are beginning a new council year and it is important that we are all (old and new) growing and expanding our knowledge as this ministry seeks to grow.  This portion will focus on our roles and responsibilities to God, to Kairos Prison Ministry International and the State Chapter Committee as well as our local council, fellow volunteers and the people we serve.

Additionally, we will have financial secretary and treasurer training from individuals that are currently using the Kairos DONOR program as well as our state treasurer and state financial secretary.  They will be able to assist you with questions about our processes and procedures.  While this training is being held will we have a concurrent discussion on recruitment issues throughout our state.  Each of our ministry areas has issues, concerns and best practices that can be shared.

Please plan on attending.  We look forward to seeing you there!

 Blessings,

Vicki Spurgeon
State Chapter Committee Chair
