The Journey program saw its genesis in a desire to enhance the Fourth Day experience of the Residents. The Fourth Day has always been the focus of the overall Kairos program. The Journey adds another dimension by allowing the Table Families formed during a weekend to continue to meet on a weekly basis in an environment conducive to ongoing community and individual spiritual growth.

The Journey experience has shown that the presence of volunteers in the weekly meetings and as a part of the families has provided a stable and secure environment in which the Residents can experience the true effects of the fourth day community. They grow in their love, compassion and caring for one another, their confidence grows, and their vulnerability deepens. Just as the weekend is an experience in Christian love, the Journey is an experience in ongoing Christian community living.
